A Fisherman's Blood

Fishing is my heart, my blood, my brain.

It doesn't make me who I am

It is who I am.

I couldn't stop it

Or turn if off if I wanted to.

When I see water, I see myself on it

Not an hour goes by

That it doesn't Pass through my mind

It gives me a place to go

Where everything else disappears

To me it's medicine

It's what keeps me normal

Take it away and

I would no longer be the same.

Unless you have what I have,

What I'm saying

won't make sense to you.

But those who have the same blood as I

Will see themselves in these words.

Author unknown

My name is Kent Yancey, Lake Sakakawea fishing guide. I also spend a lot of time on the Missouri River from the Garrison Dam to Lake Oahe to the SD border. I will make sure that your fishing adventure is as rewarding and educational as I can make it. Walleye is our usual target but small mouth, pike, catfish, crappie and white bass are common as well. Lake Sakakawea also has salmon that we start to chase late summer. I have a very good network of guides I work with so I know where the fish are biting and when. I work closely with Reel Fishing Guides, Missouri River Anglers and Big Lake Guide Service. We can handle almost any size group with enough advanced notice. Give me a call and lets make some memories.

Walleye trips usually start on the Missori River around Bismarck as soon as the Ice goes out and goes till about the 1st week in May. After that we start keying on Lake Sakakawea and Lake Audubon, This can be some of the best fishing of the season for numbers and size. It's also a great time to get on some really fun prespawn smallmouth as well. After about the middle of June we usually transition into the summer walleye pattern. I fish walleye till about the end of July or the first week in August, then It's salom season. I start taking salmon trips about the 15th of August and usually am back on walleye the last week in September and go till the end of October. Weather permitting I will go till feeze up, even into December.

Meet Guide Kevin Johnson

He and I have been fishing together on the waters of the Missouri river system since 1986. He has retired from his regular Job and will be helping me with trips a long with all the other guys that we guide with so we will have an easier time getiing you on the water. He is very knowledgeable and every bit as capable as all the other guys.
